2019-20 HM PTA Ambassador Letter to Parents

2019-20 HM PTA Ambassador Letter to Parents

Dear 2019-20 5th Grade Students and Parents:

Each year fifth graders spend one week away from home at Eagle Bluff http://www.eagle-bluff.org/– an environmental learning site located in Lanesboro, Minnesota. While some of the cost is covered by the school, families typically cover a portion of the cost along with a scholarship fund. Being an Ambassador is one way to bring down the cost for your child to attend.

The PTA helps support the Spring trip to Eagle Bluff by funding money for the buses and budgeting for the 5th grade Ambassador Program. Ambassadors can earn monetary credit for helping at monthly PTA and committee meetings, guest speakers, Open House, Fall and Spring Clean up, etc.

The Ambassadors monetary credit will be put toward the student’s cost for the Eagle Bluff trip. The students are given $5 credit for each event they work. A new opportunity this year will be to donate some or all of the monetary credit to the scholarship fund. The scholarship fund is a way to ensure all 5th grade students have an opportunity to attend the trip. You will have the opportunity to decide if you would like to participate with a partial or full scholarship later in the year.

The primary duty of the Ambassadors will be to supervise and entertain the school age children of parents attending the meetings. This year, we are asking parents of Ambassadors to help as well. If a parent is available to help at an event with their 5th grader, another $5 credit will be earned toward Eagle Bluff. This will help ensure our Ambassadors are comfortable in their supervisory role.

We ask that your student check in prior to the meeting with the 5th Grade Ambassador coordinators:  Mary Blake, Avisia Whiteman, and/or Ariel Dressler to earn credit.

If your student is interested, please complete the form for the dates that work for your family. Please include an email address for us to use for communication/confirmation.

Please have students return the forms to their classroom teacher no later than Monday, September 23rd. Schedules will be emailed to parents by Monday, September 30th.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact any of the coordinators or PTA co-presidents.

Thank you!
